We all hear about PRs on a day to day basis, especially working in an organisation. We have a super cool PR team for that at Nuclei as well, thanks to the team for always affecting the public perception about us in the best way possible.

So what do we mean with the term PR or Public Relations ?

PRs on a high level means disseminating information from an individual or an organisation to the market/public in order to build/maintain a reputation of the organisation, and affect their perception about the organisation from time to time. This is done for various reasons like:

  • Generate business leads
  • Attract investors
  • Recruit talent
  • Retain existing staff
  • Reduce costs
  • Attract potential acquirers

and many more.

But is it just limited to the PR team ?

No-Nah! 😄

An ownership mindset towards the organisation or the product or the team you are working with, instills this aspect in you without any extra efforts. For an instance, although I have been posting something on social media or publish stories/blogs on the tech/work experience at Nuclei, I never realised that there was a kind of public relationship being built out of these activities, before someone labeled it as a way of PR.

Just did it because it was inevitable for me to not keep these experiences just limited to myself. Just like any other experience of life, experiencing something great, its obvious for you as a human being to share it with others so that they could also have a taste of the same, and enhance their experiences towards life.

Similarly, when you do a conference, representing the company in national or international forums or communities, it creates a quality perception about your workplace in public. Frankly speaking, these activities if you see, are more driven by the zeal for personal growth initially, but eventually it creates a much higher leverage than you could even think of, most of the times. Especially when you have not engaged yourself is these activities or are a beginner in this field.

Surprised ? 😅

Surprise or no surprise 😄, these instances are nothing but forms of organic PRs, which anyone can do without much efforts in as natural way as possible.

Organic PRs

We all try to buy organic food, organic colours, organic everything, these days. Why do we do so ?

Because ….

When you search Google (or any other search engine) you’ll see two types of results. Organic search results (also known as “natural” search) are the results that Google gives you based on what it thinks you really want to know. Paid search results appear because someone paid to show up in your search results — usually because they have a product or service that they think you’ll be interested in, based on what you decided to search for.

Organic PR takes that concept a step further, and uses content marketing and social media to place your brand in front of consumers in an entirely organic or natural way. Your brand is simply there — where your consumers are naturally looking for you. Instead of paying to show up to the party, you’re the host or sponsor of the event.

When your brand is relevant to a consumer, they naturally interact with you, learn more about you and eventually purchase your products. Organic PR allows you to benefit from greater click-thru when consumers are searching for something that you offer as a product or service, increase brand awareness and positive brand sentiment, and lower the cost of conversion.

These organic PRs are way natural and effortless, still creates a higher impact when it comes to brand building that drives most of the aspects which are major challenges for any company:

  • Hiring new talent
  • Attracting clients
  • Attracting investors

and many more countless challenges that you could think of.

Why should I do Organic PRs?

When I say it’s organic, actually you are doing nothing with any extra effort towards the company. You just do it for your personal growth and the corresponding PR for the company, you work with, comes for free.

So the answer to the question would be — do it for your personal growth!

When you write an article, or blog or share your learnings as an author- it enhances your writing skills. Whether you are documenting a software or writing an SOP, it would become quite effortless with such practices. Your communication skills gets a boost as well. When you write more, you learn more. When you can write something which explains someone your concept, without any personal engagement or extra efforts, then you can create an exponentially high leverage with just a blog. Like this, you cover more audience.

“If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough” — Albert Einstein.

Now when you write it, or talk it for your own growth or growth of the community itself, it comes out, way naturally. No bragging involved. This instills a trust in the public about the quality and credibility of the organisation you work with, directly or indirectly. Eventually the consistency with the same, builds a quality public relationship and solves all your challenges with respect to hiring, clients, business leads, etc.

If you attend any tech/non-tech conference as a speaker or an attendee, you meet pretty diverse people in your field, from different parts of the world. Have loads of learning and connections. This also helps you building your profile in the community. People reach out to you, to learn on the kind of work you are doing at your organisation, and much more. There are a lot of hidden opportunities too 😉. Again, with all this you are non-effortlessly carrying the label of your company, in as natural way as possible.

If this much you do for your own growth, congratulations, you are on-boarded to the organic PR team 🤩. There is generally no such team though in the company. You are your own team, in this regard 😎.

Of course, teaming up for organic PRs consciously is also a great idea. We can think about it. You can personally, involve and motivate more people to write or join you as a public speaker in order to share their knowledge or experiences with regards to the company.

But even if that is not possible initially, one can do it on an individual basis too. Even if you do it on an individual level, you can create a great impact.

First time in the history of humanity we have this facility to share information/knowledge from one corner of the world to another corner of the world. Through social media one could share their knowledge and experiences with millions of people without much efforts, thereby creating a humongous impact altogether.

Hence, why not use this facility to the fullest for our personal growth, and of course Organic PR for the organisation comes as assured. This would inevitably attract clients or new talent, without us reaching out to them.

Having setup an organic/natural public relationship with regular self owned works, social media posts, blogs, talks, conferences, etc. any new talent would want to work with us, as its a natural tendency to prioritise personal growth over anything, for any talent, looking towards joining a company.

If you liked this article, see if you can involve in such activities organically wherein your personal growth is guaranteed for sure. Let me know if you would want to read more articles like these. If yes, I would love to share my own experiences with regards to organic PRs, in the next one.

Also, let me know your point of view on Organic PRs.

Till then, stay healthy and safe. Happy reading. Good bye. 🙏🏻
